Majura Parkway

Design & Construction

Design

The Majura Parkway will deliver 11.5 kilometres of dual carriageway linking the Federal Highway in the north to the Monaro Highway in the south. Each traffic lane will be 3.5 metres wide with a 2.5 metre wide roadside shoulder and a one metre offside shoulder.

The design features a number of bridges including a 250 metre long bridge over Morshead Drive and the Molonglo River (running somewhat parallel to the existing Sylvia Curley Bridge).

Majura Road will remain as a service road to various properties and provide access to the Canberra International Airport business precinct.

SMEC Australia Pty Ltd has been engaged to develop the Forward Design for Majura Parkway. Once complete, a copy of the final Forward Design will be made available on this website.

Construction

The Majura Parkway project is expected to be constructed in two stages which are currently being finalised.

Stage 1 construction is expected to commence in late 2012 with subsequent stages commencing shortly after. The overall project is due for completion by mid-2016.
